Life

An egg on a leaf

Begins to gap open and half

I lift out my meager green crown

And consume the shell

I creep to the border

And devour my leaf

I grow so great that my hide is snug

I know I am ready

I drape myself upside down

And encase myself

In a few ages I begin to wiggle and breach my cocoon

I emerge brilliant and wet, and distend my wings

As I dry... I understand its time

I stretch my wings

And fly away
