Life

As I looked across to you from the long white lunch table.

You shot my heart, you're angel like face, dating you seemed like nothing but a fable.
We got along fine, had class together, and shared a few jokes. But in my head, you were this perfect guy, I always thought you were mine.

It wasn't until, I opened the door, to courage trapped within the pink walls of my brain. Not sure if I wanted to, kept rewinding; "if I got rejected, who'd be left to blame?"
My friends told me I should be his friend.
But how could I possibly do that?
If I got rejected, my whole world end.

After a long winded moment of getting my thoughts together, putting on make up and changing my clothes.
I gather every piece of confidence I got, and decide to finally ask him out.
Finding out if he's really worth the guy I constantly sought, who always seemed to clutter my thoughts.

So I took a shot and missed the basket.
Took a while to register, completely feeling stupid, when I really thought I had it.
One of the worst feelings in the world, to ultimately get rejected.
But not wanting to know, while realizing at the same time, that there'll always be dudes out there, and I have friends that are there for me. Who could possibly ever break me?
