Life according to a Dead Squirrel

Well at least I tried. Fell and became fried. But at least I tried. Boom! and then I died. But really, I tried. They promised; they lied. But I swear I tried. Please, someone help me because I tried once.

Your poem retells a lesson I learned quite a while ago-- we must never give up because that is the only way to fail! Although, I am a little confused because the context you've put this Universal Truth in is quite the opposite of my understanding since after death there is no retrying according to most beliefs. Due to this, I wonder if your poem is actually encouraging the reader to "never give up". My advice is to take all the time you need while writing a poem! Often, even I catch myself at a loss of words, entangled in the meaning I began with versus where it has drifted. What I've found is that the best poetry comes from inspiration. Rather than attempting to finish the poem, wait for your inspiration to return! There is a chance I've looked too deeply into your poem when, in fact, you're simply telling the story of a dead squirrel. If that's the case, great job! haha
