The life of an Actress

The red curtain is pulled back
More than hundred eyes turn to you
they do not see "you" though,
Instead a whole other person
the lights are blinding
The stage comes alive
I am no longer myself
I am a character in a story
But is this not this how it is off the stage
Are we not all just a character in a story
I feel the anguish and happiness                                                                                                sorrow and joy,

These are not my emotions. Once the curtain closes
I am forced back into a play
that never ends
This one has no clapping at the end
No standing ovation
Just myself
