Life Can Always Change

I stand by the window

Looking at the cars passing by.

Why can’t I stop one

I ask my self

Again

Again

Again

Because I love you

No matter what you think.

I sit by the phone

Waiting for someone to call.

They won’t

They told me

“He just doesn’t seem right”

Again

Again

Again

But I love you

I know you do too.

I sit by the bottle

You’re drunk.

But I still ask you what’s wrong

You tell me “Everything"

Again

Again

Again

I don’t know

how much longer I can do this...

One day it’s enough.

I walk out the door

to join the cars

passing by

Again

Again

Again

A smile comes to my face

The first one for a long time.

I have a man now

Not a boy.

He listens to what I say

and we laugh

Again

Again

Again

Tossing jokes back and forth

during Thanksgiving.

Our wedding is today

But I don’t look back with regret

My past is what I was

But he knows me through and through

Again

Again

Again

We are not strangers.

Love brought us together
