Life Change
I was living life care free,
But the baggage I had weighed me down,
I wasn't who I needed to be.
One day, I got a phone call,
I could hear the pain in my dad's voice.
It was cracking, like an unsteady foundation.
My aunt had died.
I thought she was getting better,
I was in awe the progression turned into degression.
I hung up that night, my body in mental pain.
That was the day my life changed.
I wanted to die, I wanted to cry,
But I chose to hide, to hide and masquerade all of the pain.
One day, I decided to snap out of it.
My body was energized,
I no longer felt paralyzed.
She wouldn't want me to be sad I realized,
She would want me to get rid of my baggage,
Make the change that would make people have a reaction.
I owe it all to her,
Because without her death, I wouldn't have realized,
Life is too short to run and hide,
To not start the change I had been longing for.
I miss her everyday, and while it does not get easier,
She is the one person who inspired me to do better,
To have a life change.
