Life In Color

Dreams of happiness are often juxtaposed with dreams of sadness.

Green clouds hover above my head as I live my daily life,

Blue sunshine bouncing off of red windows.

Orange leaves fall unto the purple grass and with every step I take,

Everything changes color.

Color is only an illusion yet it’s the only thing I see.

Night and day do not exist,

For the moon and sun often mismatch their outfits.

Pink squirrels climb up black trees,

Yellow and indigo nuts stuffed inside of their mouth.

Life comes as a vast and indecisive rainbow,

Sometimes short and sometimes long.

The sidewalk is rufescent with lime green outlines,

Organic paint coloring my shoes.

Emotions also come in color,

Love being a pastel pink and hate coming in a baby blue.

Some may think I’m colorblind and others think I’m crazy.

Those are the ones that only see the world in a monochromatic grey.

Violet words are thrown at me in harsh tones,

But I only pay attention to the songbirds in the pale champagne colored sky.

Their songs rush into my ears and all I’m left with,

Is this lifelong rainbow.
