Life Cut Short

I silently pray to a God I cannot see
For some semblance of tangible hope
Nothing on this great earth can save me
This is the only way I know to cope
I say the same words all over again
The doctors, they must all be wrong
But all I can manage to ask is, "When?"
And they respond with, "Not very long."
Their voices like rock, eyes like stone
I am nothing to them but a number
They chose to leave me all alone
They chose not to remember
The girl who didn't beat the odds
The girl who fought but still lost
The girl who finally met God
The girl who paid the highest cost
