The Life of a Dead Man

The Life of a Dead Man

I am not worthy of you!

How could an angel like you fall for a demon like me?
Are you unaware of what my heart says is true?
I am not the one who will set you free!

These things that I have done
Lay ruin to any hopeful future
Such a frigid heart could not even be cleansed by the sun
These invisible wounds make me an impossible suitor

You are worthy of so much more!
Why are you allowing my sins to take hold of your heart?
Have you become numb to the horrors of before?
My corruptions and transgressions will tear us apart!

These things that I have done
Lay dormant until the shadows dance
For the enemy has already won
These invisible wounds elicit an endless trance

Save your precious soul!
How can I please you if I cannot please myself?
Can you not see that your peace is my only goal?
You do not deserve to lay lifeless on Death's shelf!

These things that I have said
Revive the corpse of my past
I do not want to drag you back with the dead
For I know that without me your beauty will last

Do not turn back!
How will I continue on knowing your heart is burdened?
Have I not convinced you that as you are the light I am the dark?
Never allow the night to render your mind uncertain!

These things that I have said
Have invaded my thoughts
I will never forget you, even in the seas of red
You must know I have fallen victim to the voice's plots

I miss your elegance!
How could I turn you away?
Will my tears and cries bring your presence?
My lonely night desperately desires your faultless day!

Those things I once did
Forced our separation and my damnation
My first death was amidst the evils I hid
The final death was in my selfish affectation

All I ever wished was for you to be there when my new life began
I fear, however, that I will never stop living The Life of a Dead Man
