Life Dreams
Life Dreams
I am eighteen soon to be nineteen
Soon I won’t be a teen no more
I also have dreams and big ones too
I am not a child no more
I see how this world is
People promise you the world but then take it away from you
At ten I thought unconditional love existed but little did I know the one that I loved with all my heart would soon take that away from me
My father yeah that bastard beat my mother till she couldn’t take no more
But she made it threw and taught me how stand up for myself
I’m grateful for the great mother God gave me
Because without her I wouldn’t be the person I am today
I’m a young lady with big dreams but sometimes at night the fears overcome
Fears of what?
Of being a failure because we’ve had one of those already in the family
Of not being pretty enough for any men’s eye
Of not being what the family wants
But then I remember I’m still a child in the process and off to bed I go
