Life is Fire

Every day is filled with pain

a mix of love and hate

turning in circles

swimming down

everyone starts to drown

the light’s  above you

but gravity’s below

you never appreciate colors

‘Til they start to fade slow

lungs are on fire

the world’s getting blurry

and you realize all of the things you skimmed in a hurry

how you never said that last goodbye

said I love you one last time

but if you still have strength in those limbs

raise up your head

don’t drown, swim

though everything around you pushes you down

keep heading up

find dryer ground

you’re worth fighting for

every moment of pain

For pain is a gift

So we all may live

only when you hurt do you know you’re alive

when you’re lungs burn like fire as the world freezes to ice

look towards the sun and swim towards freedom

don’t close your eyes

keep them open and bright

your heart is strong and your soul never tires

for you are a flame and this life is fire.

We live life for the relationships within it. What is life without love? Poetry, no matter how clumsily expressed is love.
