Life Flies

Faster than we would like it to You are born Learn to crawl Words taught to you You learn to walk You soil your pants The beauty of potty training is revealed Morals and manners School Good friends are made Time Flies Friends become acquaintances Acquaintances become strangers Fall in love Get a good job Your lover climbs out The job wasn’t so good Forest Gump’s momma once said, “Life is like a box of chocolates, you’ll never know what you’re going to get” and it’s true. Time flies Opportunities are lost, You fail here and there Time flies Mother and father pass on Son and daughter forget you’re still alive Alzheimer’s hits like a door Nursing home You die. It may not be ideal, But it’s yours and it’s real And whether or not you like The chocolates inside the box, you have the choice to consume all you can as you go or just sit and watch as the sweet delicious melted chocolate runs down until it is reduced to a small puddle of what could’ve been.
