Life gets better
Sitting here wondering, is this really the plan?
I mean I ain't trying to question God, with me just a mere man.
But I ain't think life was suppose to be this way.
Debt high, grades low, and that's just half of what ima say.
Wondering why my mama struggling to keep a roof over her head
And I'm up here just chilling when I could be helping out instead.
Seems like all my life it's just been a struggle.
And although I got the float on, I'm still going under.
So I sit back and ask God simply why?
I pray, work hard, and I try and live right
It seems as if some of us just can never win.
But when we feel without I guess we need to look within.
So i went to sleep last night with a lot on my mind.
And something came to visit me, an angel of some kind.
I know y'all probably thinking, "this man is insane"
But lemme tell you what I learned the night she came.
Sitting here complaining about having no heat
When there are soldiers who come back, and can afford nothing to eat.
They put their life on the line, F a nine to five
Ain't no time for them to sit there and worrying or to cry.
They are at all times one second away from death.
And you complaing cause the temperature isn't what you set.
I looked and her and said I understand that one, but what about the time we had no water?
She then said hold up... That was just for starters.
What about 12 year old Stacy, who was raped and let for dead in the middle of the street?
Don't look at me like that, cause it was just last week.
The bastard took her virginity, and violently impregnated her.
And you wanna sit and complain about having no water.
And now every time she see the baby she can only see the rapist.
But you wanna sit here and complain about your life daily.
I told the angel, I understand, that man needs to rot in hell.
But she quickly responded, that's not all I came to tell
Don't give up on life because it may seem so hard.
It is at this time the most, when you need not fall
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
I told her thank you, I appreciate her effort
She told me thank you, it was my pleasure.
I said you really don't know how you've made my day
She said don't clap for me, give Jesus a handclap of praise.
