Life Is Like An Herb Garden

Picture in your mind a large herb garden. Close your eyes and enjoy the view.

Take a deep breath and relax a minute, let me just talk to you.

The other day when I was out in the sun, I thought of something to say.

Life is like an herb garden that we cultivate everyday.

Think of when we water our dill, we get a wiff of a "pickly" kind of smell

Life sure is full of pickly times when things just aren't going well.

But we plug along until we find ourselves with a handful of mint

Life sure is sweet then and our days seem a lot more heaven-sent.

Now basil adds a touch of class to any common dish,

Just like our parents work hard to fulfill our every wish.

Hard times remind us of rosemary; you can only take just a bit.

With dreary days and rosemary both, you have to keep your wits.

Cilantro adds an exotic flair, and sometimes our life's that way.

We start out one place and end up another, but life always comes back to today.

Today we plant, tomorrow we reap; they both go hand in hand.

No work, no money, no bees, no honey - it's easy to understand.

Now oregano is little, but it packs a punch, like the things we do.

One kind word and a smile to our neighbor just might pull him through.

Parsley is a little bit sneaky because it's as pretty as can be.

But did you know that underneath her beauty, she's full of Vitamin C?

"Ain't life grand?", we say to ourselves when life just works out fine.

But to swallow a heartbreak with a smile on your face is an attitude almost divine.

And finally garlic, my favorite of all, but just don't get too near.

But still remember that not everything is exactly as it appears.

Life is like that, just when you think you've got it all figured it out.

Garlic goes a long way, like love, and isn't that what life's about?

I hope you've considred the herb garden too.

I think it's almost a sign.

That we should consider our lives and our ways,

Before we run out of... thyme.
