The Life Before I was Somebody Elses
First of all, I would always be his little princess,
Then one day he felt ill.
He went away for awhile and then came home,
Only to find out he had stage 3 lung cancer.
The doctor said he had at least 6 months to live.
Secondly, one year later he was still here,
We all thought he made it, that it was gone.
I wanted to get him something to celebrate him making it,
But didn’t know what to get.
One day I was in art and got assigned to sew a pillow.
I then decided I would make a pillow to give him.
I insisted to give it to him for Father’s Day.
Thirdly, that Father’s Day I awoke excited,
Until my parents sat us down.
I learned I was soon to find out,
That he had passed away the night before.
I was never able to give him that pillow.
I’m not his little princess anymore,
Now I’m somebody else’s.
