The life of an immigrant

I am an immigrant
I left my country to come to the U.S for better life
Living as an immigrant is not like a piece of cake
You are being discriminated by people originally from here
Because you come from another nation, skin color, language.

I am a black boy
When I walk on the street, I always keep my head down
I do not want to look at people especially white people
Because they considered us blacks people as criminal, thieves etc...

In this country, oppression is a main issue
Because some people believe their are superior than others
I did not face issues when I first come here
Because I always mind my business
I know some of my immigrants friends who faced racism, discrimination, oppression  .

You have to be responsible of everything you do
Else you will get serious problems
I am happy of being an immigrant
Because I faced many challenges in life
And I know many things that people originally from here do not know.

Always act smart, respectful and do not put yourself in bad situations
If someone try to put you down with his words, or make you feel bad
Just ignore him, continue moving forward
Do what you have to do and you will be successful in life.

And put in mind that living as an immigrant, you will face many challenges
It is the life of an immigrant.
