The Life Inside

Location

Everyday I hear the media "generation's changing"

laws get passed, DOMA's trashed, equalizing marriage

But I still see the disparage; like there's no one here caring

Shadowed by the demise gotta push myself to thrive

cause I wanna tell the world to let me live my own damn life

with a guy, happy inside, let Pharrell just play that vibe

to drown out all the pressure and ignore the next endeavor

that my father gon' hate me and all my homies begin disclaiming

So what should I do? Say forget em and just be true?

Or quietly bead up tears

and finish up this demeaning year

so I can get away from here and start my life in college

demolished past, moving fast, and rising out the phoenix ash.
