Life Isn't Easy

It didn't leave me with an endless smile,

Or a herd of butterflies fluttering to the surface, no.

Instead it left me comparing what I felt with him

To what I felt with you.

Damn it.

I'm writing to you again.

I tried so damn hard to make this one be the one

That made me forget you.

And for a while,

He did the job.

He made me forget.

But our first kis was one to build dreams on,

And I did.

God, did I build.

But you woke up before I ever did

And darling, I'm still dreaming.
