A Life of Lanterns
The sun blazing,
The music playing,
The grass blowing in the wind;
We were finally here.
Our time in high school has come to a close.
I can finally breath again.
As the sun was setting,
Our moods began to change.
This is the end.
This. Is. It.
We let our lanterns.
We saw them dancing in the sky,
Waltzing among the stars and the moon.
At that moment,
I began to feel frightened.
Frightened for a future, unknown.
Frightened for a long list of possibilities.
Frightened for the loss of friendships.
But,
While staring at the moon's glow,
Listening to the wonderful music,
Feeling the grass between my toes,
I knew.
Everything would be okay.
The puzzle pieces would find there way.
My friends would be here to stay.
And, I will continue to grow
As I am more capable than I could ever know.
