A Life Lesson Worth Learning

Dear Ambition, 

In our lifetime, there will always be trials to test us.

In a warped way, I see it as Darwin's Theory of Evolution for people, teens especially. 

I always find myself wondering what it means to make the "right decision"?

There really is no "right" way of going about things, but there will always be a wrong way.

Samuel Becket once said, "Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better."

You can easily choose the comfortable way, the risky way, or the popular way, but its a struggle to figure out the best answer.

When I was asked to explain my personal weaknesses in an English essay, I edited and re-edited the piece repeatedly in hopes of finding my way around the truth and the lies.

No one wants to lie about their feelings, but no one ever really wants their darkest, most inner thoughts to be openly shared with another person.

What do you do then?

Simple.

You try.

You fail.

You keep trying.

You keep failing.

Only you fail a little bit better the next time around.

You may not always choose the path that leads to an easy life or outcome, but you always have the ability to try again and turn things around.

No matter how long it takes you to figure it out, you have your entire life to get it right if it's worth figuring out.

So Ambition, the next time I find myself doubting how committed I am to facing something head on, I will remember this lesson.

As it's a lesson worth learning.
