Life in A Letter

Dear Past Me,

What’s wrong with you?

First place isn’t everything

You got what you want but now look

You lost everything you took

Wanted to be top of the class

But you ain’t got no class

No friends

No respect

It took you so long to realize

You’re alone

Smartest person in the class

But the dumbest in the world

You criticized everyone who didn’t agree with you

But you soon realized that no one wanted to be with you

Pretty funny, huh?

You wanted to be the top of the game

Only to be put to the bottom

I do have to give you props though

You looked at yourself and changed

You bettered yourself

You became more open

More friendly

And for that you got friends

Or should I say, “friends?”

You tried proving to them that you’re a better person now

You shared with them your feelings

You brought them into your heart

They all said that you’re a “good friend”

But they didn’t stick with you in the end

You wanted to hangout

But they wanted to get away

You opened your schedule

They closed theirs

Be glad that they left you

Only those who can be your friend

Will stick by your side

Even if ya’ll are separated

Dear Present Me,

So you finally graduated from middle school

You probably miss your friends right?

You think no one will think you’re cool

But don’t worry

Those chumps from middle school

Never had your back

Time for you to find new opportunities

New friends

Hell, you’ll even make new enemies

In high school, you do your thing

If they don’t like it

Then they don’t appreciate you

Not one bit

Woah, what’s that?

You actually made new friends?

I knew you could do it

You even met someone special?

Well that is most definitely new

You can finally be yourself and be accepted

You’re finally at peace

For so long you’ve fought for people's acceptance

They welcomed you with open arms

The phrase they’ve told you

“You’re a good friend”

Finally has a meaning

They’ve helped you when you were down

They picked you up when you fell

You’ve made so many memories with these wonderful people

Or should I say, friends?

Go on, be happy

You deserve it

Oh wait, let me take it back

You will come soon to realize

Your girl leaves to another state

Your father stays in hospitals many times over nights

You have arguments with your family

You barely see any of the rest of your family

Your own friend who you helped for the longest

Forgot to tell you he’s leaving

You better cherish what you have right now

Otherwise

Your happiness will be taken

Without you realizing it

Don’t you worry though

Because eventually your dad won’t go to the hospital as often

He’s going to take dialysis instead

Your girl still loves you

Your family becomes closer and stronger

You realize you don’t need the rest of the family any longer

You don’t need that so called friend who left

Better focus on yourself

Because it’s your senior year

Better make it count

Dear Future Me,

Now you are the person who I will become

You are the person who I don’t wanna know

I want to live in the future

I want to live in the present

Who knows what can happen in your time

All I know is I’m going to enjoy my time here

Let’s hope I will live a good life

Sincerely,

Me
