Life Line

His hands slowly drag over the white marble paper,

curving his lines over and over again.

Once the task is completed to his satisfactory, he grabs the white square

lightly rubbing away the gray sketches from before now replace with neat, dark lines.

Blowing away the debris from the eraser,

he looks over the creation presented in front of him.

He turns, bones creaking from the lack of movement,

and examines the oeuvre that inspired his newest work of art.

Still ever so leisurely he turns back scrutinizes the piece,

and with a grunt he crumples up the work

And places it in the overflowing wastebasket.
