A life to lose
When we met, you were an inspiration.
You were even able to give a plethora of information.
The lessons you taught were boundless,
And you were able to help keep me grounded.
Years passed, and I was no longer just your mentee,
You came into my heart and became my family.
All was great until that fateful day came to be,
The dream, no vision, that came that night to me.
I woke up immediately, and could not come to peace with it,
Because I saw that I was saving you from that bullet.
Did I see what I wanted to see though?
Was this really how destiny was meant to go?
I did not tell you, to save you from what I thought may come,
But the tension grew, and our realtionship faded some.
Eventually, we no longer had the same connection we once had,
And this was evident in how we reacted to one another and grew mad.
In the end, we no longer had a relationship.
When you threw me to the side, I was hurt,
But I was also angry, because I thought I was meant to save that life if yours.
When I look back at what I saw as a vision, I realize I was wrong in what I saw
When I once thought I was saving you from that bullet that had me in awe,
In reality, it was you that was shooting me and caused my fall.
