To Life & Lost Fights!

We have one live to live & were never given a blueprint,

Like these words on this paper with no music

Humming to the rhythm of the beat, trying not to lose it

Thrown out into the ocean, given advice from the sidelines on how to swim

Taught to try to see the light at the end of the tunnel when things get dim

To get down on our knees & pray when things look grim

Expected to see the goodness of the world through a distorted view

The mistakes of our mothers, sins of our fathers, & legacy of our ancestors too

Following like a thief in the night, stuck to us like glue

There's so much pressure on my heart, so much weight on my shoulders

So much stress in my life as I start to get older

These walls are closing in on me, closer & closer

Blinded by the pollution of my thoughts

Praying today's demons are lesser than the ones I previously fought

Wishing I could trade in some time for all these things that I've bought

Feel like I'm not enough & this world is too much

These thoughts I hide, they're like a crutch

If you really knew, you'd think I was messed up

And yet still I try to make it right

But although I try, with all my might

I don't have strength to win this fight
