Life Map
I stare down the path ahead of me.
One foot in front of the other I go.
I look around and there are a million different trails.
There are people on their own paths.
People running along.
Others walking along.
Some aren’t even on a path at all.
I look ahead
There are hills, twists, and turns.
I grow with the path and I trust it.
My parents taught me to follow this path.
Straying from this path will only bring trouble they say.
On nights I’m alone I wonder, close enough to see it still.
But far enough to know there’s more off the path than on it.
I start to leave the path, I walk on others.
There are views, people, and stories wilder than my dreams.
Consumed by the new, I walk forward not stopping to think about where I am.
I keep walking until I don’t know where I’ve gone.
I look around me and can’t find my path.
Where do I go?
What do I do?
For the first time, I stop moving and everything is still.
Should I have left the path?
Should I have questioned it?
Lost and confused I decided to walk again.
I walk with a purpose, to find my path.
Along the way I look.
Until I realize the path I was on, was still my own.
The reality was mine.
This life map is my own.
