The Life of my Dreams

Born in the mountains on a fresh Sunday morning Suckled on sweet crisp air Riding a horse before she could walk At fourteen, wrestled a grizzly bear She lassoed a cougar and rode it to town Ate dinner with a fox of berries and honey Jumped on an eagle and flew in the sky Shared salmon with a cub and tea with a bunny At eighteen gave her parents a goodbye kiss Walking beneath the western sky Settled in a quiet town with her very own ranch And became famous for her delicious apple pie She had light curly hair pulled back in a braid A deadly rifle she fired at her hip Large green eyes made her the prettiest gal She protected her home with grit and a whip Working the land with all her might Plucking her fiddle in an oak trees shade Reading the bible and praying to God Singing deep as honey, a sweet melody she made When visitors came they were shocked and appalled ‘’How unladylike!” they cried their looks very stern Shaking their fingers, rolling their eyes “Ha!” she replied standing tall and firm But she won them over with kindness and charm Wore a gold ring and a white lacey dress Wed to a cowboy that was seven feet tall Had a brewed of babes that made a big mess Lively and full was her life till one hundred and three She died happy and peaceful without any pain Surrounded by grandkids and a yard full of lily’s Oh how I loved my good wife Jane
