Life Is Not Meant To Be Perfect

I am from the cave with no light in sight,

From a gameboy and a room in which I am able to hide,

I am from the filthy, loud, and scary house that is still able to make me feel safe and loved, since it was all I knew.

I am from the rose that had not yet bloomed as I have not yet found true love at such a young age, the dandelions are what I am as I make wishes about dreams that might never come true,

I am from a family that always makes sure to tell each other we love one another, even though there are so many times in which we will hurt one another,

I am from a sea of rage that will never be calmed by anyone other than Jesus Christ, as it is only through God we can change for the better.

From being told that you should never sin because it is wrong for those who follow God and watching as my family seems to break every sin I know, telling me that God will forgive them.

I am from the house of God that will never be torn down, built to help those who seek God, and my safe haven that is there for me in my time of need.

I’m from a place in which the bad times outweigh the good times as there are mainly painful memories that I am able to focus on,

if my family can be described as food they would be sour patch kids as they will do something so hurtful to you that they will leave a sour taste, but then they will try to be sweet to you, expecting you to easily forgive them,

From the uncle who I got my anger issues from, the grandfather who was able to teach me that life is not always fair and that we need God to stay strong, and the mother who is always there to tell me to live my life, make mistakes because we only live once so make sure you take the time to spend your life with those you care about,

I am from pictures with family members missing from them, the sounds of screaming and shouting, the games that I played as a child in which we would hide from cars just in case they happen to shoot,

I couldn't ask for a better life as it made me the person I am to this day.
