Life of an Ocean
I am an ocean
With mystery and depth
Unaware of my power
And unable to rest
With riptides in my soul
And then calm waves in my chest
I am an ever changing tide
Swimming in my waters, you'll drown without a vest
The sunrises over me in the east
And sets in my west
The Atlantic
The Pacific
Every coast is my quest
There's so much life within me
The light that I reflect
I hope it shines on you
Where love and energy intersect
But beneath the coral and the fish
Beneath all the breathes
Is a deep, dark place
Where no one can see
Down there is eternal night
Filled with trauma and debris
Sometimes it rises up
Beats against my shore
My mind starts waging a long, painful war
It truly ceases
Just settles back down
And sits on my ocean floor
