The Life of A Polyglot

Hearing the sounds of the different tongues,
From countries to households to lonely minds,
The urge I have to master one by one,
a taste of each culture, a person’s life.
To know one word is to open a door,
A simple ciao, oi, hola, or sveiki,
The start of new journeys in life and more,
To share yourself not in one way, but three.
But the luxuries of this way of life
Do not come easy to the simple mind,
After the work comes the feelings of blithe,
To open worlds is from effort and time.
I would trade this passion with nothing else,
All these hours count for more than myself.
