Life Rewritten

I've got fire in my veins,
and I try to live my life right.
I'm coming up with rules and regulations
to abide by.

How often have I cried,
been unhappy with my life?
But I will find my friends,
I will find my kids and wife.

I can't rush it, though,
yeah, I've got to take it slow.
Writing tons of poems,
always working on my prose.

Domo arigato, making replays,
talking slow-mo.
But I'm not making bread;
I'm not a baker, I've got no dough.

So, give me just a minute,
man, I think I'll turn my life around.
I'm headed off to college,
and I think I'm doing better now.

Getting letters now;
trying not to let 'em down.
I'm present for my classes, doing homework,
try to make 'em proud.

So before you say a word,
don't be talking all that trash.
'Cause I'm headed for my future,
while you're living in the past.

I'm living for that gasp,
yes, I'm living for surprise.
Blink, and then you'll miss me,
so, please don't you close your eyes.

Don't you know I wanna fly?
'Cause I'm soaring through the sky.
Feeling like a bird, trapped,
wanna say goodbye.

But I'm better now.
