Life Saver

Somebody once asked me what I wanted to do with my life

I wanna be a life saver ,I said

Nobody knew what I meant

till I watched my nephew disappear 

What the heck is Brain Cancer?

how could a 14 year old do anything?

I wanna be a life saver, I said

because it was too hard to watch young souls be carried away

young souls and he was one

I wanna be a life saver, I said

I did my research 

I did my duty as an aunt

but was it really over?

My job never stopped

I wanna be a life saver, I said

as I watched College acceptance letters pour in

while I poured my heart out on that college essay

I want to save the future him

Grief  is hard to get by

No family should have to say good bye

I wanna be a life saver, I said

Cancer research is a must

and if you're not joining 

watch me cause a fuss!

Doing this for you buddy

and I miss you dearly

but I'll help the others and do my job

So I no longer have to sob
