Life On A Ski

Cold ground as far as the eye can see Zebra stripes merging from shading trees Sensation of freedom and being free Climbing higher than could ever be Now I hear nothing but only for a bit Coming in closer steady to hit Tall wood quakes brace of grit Stunned man fallen as to sit Cold ground as far as the mind can see Shattered fragments striving to breathe I watched with care who watched me Numbed pain clenching piercing teeth Rushing image of warmth and love To be a letter fallen from above Gray sky now dressed in a glove Lifting hands reaching from above Cold ground as far as the hand can see Nerves drawn tight to hope they cleave Belching throttle blowing no time to breathe Life changes glides swiftly down on a ski
