Life Is A Smorgasbord

Life is full of spices,

Sweets, cakes and slices;

Mine bittersweet indeed,

Never fulfilled my need.

Each story bakes a glaze,

Seasoned into a haze;

Sometimes there’s hot mustard,

Honey, even custard.

Life is a smorgasbord,

Keeps you full, never bored;

Champagne, fruit, bagels, lox,

More you eat, more it costs.

Sometimes hot, sometimes cold,

Sometimes fresh, sometimes mold;

We eat fast; we eat slow,

When finished we hope to glow.

Hot and spicy ecstasy,

Brings the need for hot tea;

What tasted good at first,

Turns to heartburn, the worst.

A feeding frenzy, life,

Beginnings cut with knife;

Recipes of dreams, hope,

Experience helps cope.

But with each bite we chew,

We are more old than new;

With each flavor we try,

We’re seasoned by and by.
