Life at a Steady Pace

My heartbeat races like a speeding car.

It gets faster as I feel a rush of happiness

And my heart slows to a steady beat

With the realization of absolute joy.

Suddenly  I am struck by the strongest

Sensation of loss I have ever felt.

With the feeling comes the slowing of

My heart and the feeling

Of loneliness and betrayal almost stopping

The steady pace of my life.
