Life Through Characters

Everyone has dreams for the future. Dreams are meant to be big, bold, and full of life especially when they’re applied to future jobs. When I was a kid in elementary school, I remember the teacher asking us what do we want to be when we grow up. Being kids we all had huge imaginations, and even more so, grand dreams so the answers ranged from professional sports player, to doctor, to singer, and many more. My answer was actress because playing all sorts of different characters is what I really loved doing during my free time, plus being famous also was the cherry on top. However, as kids grow and mature, they change and sometimes so do their dreams. I realized while growing up I loved being different from everyone and my interests always differed from other crowds. As my interests changed, so did my dreams. While I still want to be an actor, it differed from what people normally think about an acting job. Thus, my dream job is being a voice actor. I always found it so interesting as I watched cartoons, animation, and movies and I realized that being in the spotlight like real movie actors and actresses wasn’t really for me. It would be amazing to voice all sorts of different characters will all sorts of different voices which gives this job endless possibilities. I love expressing myself when I’m around friends and family and I would love this job because I would get to do it all the time plus, letting others experience my expression as well. It’s not a job that a lot of people would think of as a dream job, and that’s what I like. It’s my own unique dream job that hopefully will come true someday so I can express myself to many people.

Having this job would definitely be life changing because I have always been a shy person, so I think being a voice actor would allow me to open up to more people outside of my friends and family. I would get to meet so many people while at the same time growing as a person. However, talking about getting this sort of job and having it is easier said than done. I would have to go to many auditions resulting in hit or miss opportunities, if I do manage to get a job for one show or movie doesn’t mean I would get any more, and the hardest would be to really open up to people I don’t really know. But having these obstacles makes the job more rewarding if I do land one and I’m still willing to take the risk of it because it means a lot to me. I always love making my own imitations of characters while at the same time making my own characters with my voice. My friends and family all love my expression and performances and are willing to help me in any way they can. Their support is also another factor that gives me the confidence to move towards this job no matter what the obstacles or risks it may have. Voice acting is definitely something I would love and hopefully be doing in my future to come.
