Life Through My Eyes

Life through my eyes: I see crack heads, drug dealers, prostitutes, and rapists, And they wonder why us black people don’t even make it. Life through my eyes: I see fighting and killing, All over he say she say or even over drug dealing. Life through my eyes: I see babies not even making it to see the age of one, And I see children killing children by playing with knives and guns. Life through my eyes: I barely see a future for me, Because I’m stuck in this environment and stuck living in agony. Life through my eyes: I see more and more black people dead and on the news, Just because someone made the wrong decision now someone else have to suffer too. Life through my eyes: I see my race endangered because of black on black crimes, Or drugs we think will wash away our stress but it is really killing our minds. I see fathers deny, innocents die, and their loved ones cry. I just hope something can change the life through my eyes.

I wrote this poem in middle school when I lived in the rough neighborhoods of Detroit, MI. I love my city I just hope it gets better one day.
