Life Through A Pen
Life Through A Pen
I don't write to receive snaps and claps
Because to me that sounds like entrapment.
Because why write for the worlds approval
And who even approved them to approve me anyway?
It would be selfish for me to write for myself, so I don’t do that either,
Especially, since I am my own worst critic.
It just doesn't make any since, so I don't write to be the smooth dude,
I write because I have the gift to.
This gift has become a passion of mine,
Not a mindless way to slap words together into clever stanzas.
But I write to create a masterpiece with my pen,
The same way that Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel.
And as I've developed my talent I realize its not about creating a single mind-blowing verse,
To be honest, i write because I'm happy and often because I hurt.
And many times these feelings may be too much to hold on to so I pour them out into lines,
And hopefully, to some, i will bring peace to weary eyes,
Or even to be a sweet song to my God who sits high on top of high.
I write so that I remember who I am, and Whose I am,
I write to see where I've come from, where I am, and where I'm going.
Through writing I remember to choose life everyday because I have a purpose,
I write to prove that there is still life in me, as inhales and exhales do.
My poems are for the single mother, so that she knows all of her efforts are not in vain;
For the abandoned children, so that they know that they were still birthed for a reason,
Although their parents couldn’t see it;
For the man on the very edge of his cliff, so that he can finally hear, “Don’t Jump! This isn’t your end.”
So when it’s all said and done,
I figure I write to try and introduce Life through a pen.
