A Life Together, Words on an old man
A Life Together, Words of an old man
What is my purpose in this life?
what is the reason to breath if theres nothing more at the end of the finish line.
So many emotions within me,
I can't handle them all, I wish i was free
why must people die?
why is it that the living are the ones who cry, once we said goodbye
I feel so insignificant without you,
I don't know if i can pull through.
you are the person that I wanted forever in my life
the one i choose to call my wife.
I would do anything to be right now by your side.
if only you had more time,
if only I could kiss your wrinkled forehead once again before saying goodnight.
Today I stand in a graveyard, I'm down on one knee
my tired body aches, i cant even support myself, I have my hand against a tree.
As I read your name on your tombstone, so many memories come back,
I used to read it from my hand when you wrote it in History class.
A whole life together my love, and Its still not enough.
my heart feels numb.
or maybe that could be my cholesterol,
now that your gone, I eat all the bacon i want.
Its funny how I still make jokes, I'm so used to your laugh
your memories is what keeps me tough.
I remember your smile, your kisses, your hugs,
those long walks at the park.
or even those long lines you used to put me through at the mall.
I remember how we would always be late, because you took forever to get ready
now there is no one to wait for, alone i go everywhere, my heart feels heavy.
A whole life was not enough to love you,
I know that because although your gone, my love for you continues to be true.
Here I am at the age of 78, under a tree,
I could be anywhere, but here is where I rather be.
my bald head is peeling from all the sun, I wear a hat
but when I read your name, I take it off and place it in my heart.
I miss you my love, I keep looking at this stone
and the more i see it the more i realize I must continue alone.
my time is also ticking,
I feel that my life is also slipping.
Just like you, I'm also old
But as long as i draw breath, I would keep what i was told.
sitting close to you at the hospital, you asked me to hold your hand
wrinkles and freckles garnished them, I soon realize your life was coming to an end.
with one last breath, you told me you will always love me.
crying uncontrollably I said "don't go I need you-please!"
I kissed your hand, and repeated your words.
I couldn't believe you were gone, it took me some time, I just froze.
Although your not here in person, your love still grows
I miss you, and want you here more and more.
Time is the only thing that keeps us apart,
but until then my love I would keep loving you, here on earth with all my heart.
