Life Without Poetry
Everything I know they have told me.
Even how to think and feel.
If you can’t control what you know,
You have no control.
Knowledge is power, but it’s sealed.
All the facts of our life are not free,
Only the higher-ups can see
The full picture of the puzzle, hundreds of pieces,
Meanwhile, we only get three.
I am Powerless because I know only what I’m told.
Following is all I’m taught
And I’m sold.
Ignorance is strength and bliss and chains.
Orthodoxy leaves no room for thought.
Even if you don’t know what they’re saying,
Just faintly smile and nod along.
I just want to drop suspicions and follow,
Follow blindly, doubtless, and obey.
Obey them, who am I to challenge what they say?
They say two and two make five? Okay!
We are Powerless because we know only what we’re told.
Following is all we’re taught
And we’re sold.
