A Lifelong Lesson Learned Early

I looked down at my small, pale hands

And wondered how I could do this.

Without the granting of my earlier wish,

There was no one to help, no one to understand.

The looming, chilling, dreadful figures stood unfazed,

Before a young girl with a meek gaze.

I was on my own, had to persevere alone

Down a path where the dangers were unknown.

Yet, as a clearing divides a storm,

There you came to be an intangible form.

Brimming with the brightest burning light,

You dispelled that palpable night from my sight.

Not only did I stand but I raised by gaze

And was enlightened by the many ways

You revealed everything I could achieve.

Having been taught by you made me completely believe

That with a little bit of effort and perseverance,

You, my determination, will override any interference.

My accomplishments to this day are not to be ignored,

However small, they pave my way to the grand award.

This motivated drive has taken me this far,

But I am far from where my choices end.

You will take me further than I can comprehend,

Merging to where all my delights, my dreams, and my desires are.
