Life's Contradictions

The darkness encroaches

In blacks and grays.

Blues turn to black

No more sunny rays.

Vision obscured

By fading light.

Shadows come out

As ravens take flight.

Shadows are dancing

And changing before me.

I ask what they want

And suddenly they flee.

Hiding from something

But what could it be?

I see but I don’t see,

The shadows are me.

I feel the pain

I feel the life

I feel the emotions

I feel the strife

I feel the darkness

It envelopes my soul

I feel the rejection

shattered never

quite whole.

I love the darkness

It hides inside me.

I hate the darkness

That causes you to flee.

Why do you judge me

And call me unfit?

Why do you point out

All I must quit?

I don’t understand

I really don’t see

Why cant you love me for just being me.

The dawn brings new days

New thoughts and beginnings

With bright sunny rays

Will I hide in the darkness

The emptiness in my soul?

Will I break these shackles

That bind freedom to be whole?

I want to change or maybe I don’t.

Sometimes I wonder

If its failure I want.

I love you, I hate you

I need you please go!

If only you would love me

I know I could be whole.

Come closer, stay away

Hold me and love me

I need you to stay.

The darkness surrounds

Blinding my sight.

I don’t know the truth

From shadows and lies.

My lifes contradictions

Have brought me this far.

The darkness and lights from lifes every bar.

I have no power to

Change darkness to light,

But I hear of a power

That cares about my plight.

I ask without faith

I ask for help to believe.

I ask for the power

To walk from darkness to leave.

To leave the shadows

My long time friends.

 To walk in the light

My face to the winds.

I want my soul to bring spirit and life.

Please open my eyes

To the truth that hides.

Truth that dances in shadows

And from lying lips slide.

Im tired of pretending

Of playing my role.

Im tired of the shadows

Of my life left unwhole.

If you see me today

Please see me for me,

Don’t judge me for failures

From the shadows I flee.

The sun now rising

I wont hide from this day.

Shadows held off and,

in clarity of mind,

In light and truth

Today I will stay.
