Life's Pool

Life has always been slowly pushing me

towards the deep end of a pool,

but I never really noticed.

Everything changed when I was 15.

I saw the pool known as adulthood

and its water full of taxes, bills, and responsibilty.

But seeing the water in front of me wasn't the big deal,

for I had always known the pool was there.

The big deal wad how close I was to it.

Out of nowhere, I was hit in the head

by the realization that there was only

3 short years between me and the pool.

This sudden realiztion terrified me because

I don't know how to swim.

With every passing day, I get closer and closer

to being submergered underwater.

And with every new day, I'm just as scared

as I was the day before.

But, knowing that one day

I'll learn how to swim in this deep pool

eases my mind just a little.

Life has always been slowly pushing me

towards the deep end of a pool,

and its time I put on my swimsuit.
