Life's Simplest Joys
I love airplanes.
I love the fact that as the plane ascends
higher and higher
you begin to realize how small
you truly are.
Your problems and worries have never been so insignificant
just by sitting on an airplane.
Even the skyscraper on West 45th Street
is reduced to nothing but spec until it's impossible to see
from high above the clouds.
It's one of the greatest feelings in the world.
It's the fact that for a moment we escape the blinders
that keep us narrowed and single-minded in everything we do.
Here, I can see everything.
I can see the bigger picture.
How can what I am dealing with compare to this?
It can't.
No matter how I look at it, it just can't.
Somewhow this conventional form of transportation,
becomes more than just a flight from Texas to New York.
In the most simple and seemingly insignificant snippets of life,
we find the most solace.
We realize that perhaps the world is not what it seems and that
no matter what we face or what troubles we come across,
we can truly find comfort in life's simplest pleasures.
