Life's Vitality

Connection is life’s vitality Whether we are a child or a man We all are in need of one another’s company Yet I always have my own well thought out plan So when a tow truck driver said to me I come here for my son’s sanity I couldn’t think but to disagree And wonder about that inhumanity Why would someone stoop to dependence When they could have so much independence And never be here in attendance Never witnessing such a great decadence Where he should strive to be Is where I have always been Everyone here is so very happy Well fed, clothed, and with a grin So why was the bus so appealing The reasons couldn’t help but be revealing In the world I live I am so alone But at the bus a man finds community Food is shared and his son shone Still my world has all the money And still it hit me over and over I am nothing but another loner Who couldn’t help but be more lost Doing what I want at any cost That is what scares me about this event Even with a seemingly strong community Still I go to sleep, everything held inside tight With no one to be with in unity I am too independent for my own good That is how I was raised and how I will live Because pride tells me this is how I should I can see for me many an alternative Yet I will always be lonely independent me Never able to see the true reality Because I believe that is who I ought to be Lacking the essence of life’s vitality
