Life,Soul, And Love

Dear lord I thank for the life you breathe in my lungs

The talent I’m blessed with the skill with my tongue

How I write these compositions and deliver these poems

We started at the bottom, now we here

It clearly appears they envy and fear

A woman with talents far surpassing her peers

And knowledge surpassing her year’s

Though it may seem I’ve lived a life of joy and happiness

You wouldn't know all tears I've shed for my success

The pain I've encountered and still I wonder

If I should travel yonder

Is the grass greener on the other side I ponder?

The mind will wonder, yet I can't rest for their plan is to take under,

Can they not see hunger?

Do they not hear that thunder?

See frankly I can't quit and see them RIP Frankie,

For that is the one person that’s held me down,

Looked at me in that mirror and calmed me down,

For you will never fail me when others will,

For you took the time to learn, study and craft these skills,

So that others might share in the wisdom, see what’s my vision,

While competition is hoping for a woman's submission,

You took the harder decision,

I promise we will see a better tomorrow,

When hearts can open up and our eyes will be free of sorrow,

We fly like Eagles looking for prey,

Seeking for flowers like butterflies out their cocoons seeing a new day
