Lift the C, trill the E
There I was, audtioning for the flute solo.
It's a large part of the show for my marching band.
I did not desire it as much as others though.
Yet when I was chosen, more tears of joy were shed than planned.
The pressure upon me was great.
Could I even compare to my idol who had come before me?
At rehearsal I felt that I could not get the part quite straight.
Soon it came time to peform, and I needed to let what I had be.
When I finally played, I possed a new passion.
No longer thinking, I allowed the flow
to take me away, resulting in a powerful crowd reaction.
Strong enough to the point when some praised me, they would not let me go.
Modesty was my counter to the compliments that I was gracious to recieve.
For in my heat I knew, I play pretty damn amazing if you were to ask me.
