The Light

As I lay here looking up at the sky,

I wonder why everything seems so right.

So I say, “God please won’t you tell me why?”

Show me the truth, please Lord, show me the light.

It was only yesterday I felt shame.

And the day before, infatuation.

What is this ride I’m on what is this game?

Who are you to play with my dissension?

And the Lord spoke saying "You will soon know."

But I cannot accept this life as is,

So I search and search, I reap as I sow.

And I travel the world around, abyss.

Until at last I see a light, so dim.

But I know that what I see lies also within.
