The Light

I was sitting in a dark, dark room

With no one there to hear my screams

My body stayed still as the earth moved on.

Every day I acted as if nothing happened

But my mind has the scars to prove it.

i prayed and prayed that a day would come when I felt no pain.

The monsters of my past haunted me, consumed me.

My mind screamed for a distraction from this nightmare of life as a teenager.

So i picked up a pencil and let my heart flow

At last I found my light.

The bright, burning, light that was hidden amoung the darkness

I wasn't consumed by my past anymore.

I was free as an eagle soaring high in the air.

Careless, confident, and bright.

I was the light.
