The Light Of Day

In the dead of the night
All of the problems come to the light
Stacking up and building walls that box you in
So that you relive the nightmares over and over again
You’re desperately trying to reach the top of a mountain that’s endless
Seeking once more for a way to end it

Wrestling with regrets and wishes to change the past
As you listen to the rain that comes pouring down in a flash
One moment of peace is all that you ask
Just as discouragement settles in, help comes at last
No longer are you darkened by the dead of the night
But simply soothed by the caress of daylight

Problems have solutions in the light of day
Walls seem to fall and you realize there is another way
Your nightmares no longer have villains which makes them just a dream
And that mountain you tried to climb isn’t as high as it seemed
Regrets become mistakes made and lessons learned
Changing the past is no longer what you yearn

The downpour of rain that you dreaded has completely dried
Along with the thousand tears you cried
No longer discouraged but completely inspired
Because making it through the storm was all you desired
Your smile returns because you know it’ll be okay
Because the impossible seems possible in the light of day
