The Light of Dreams vs. The Darkness of Reality

I see the endless ocean

I hear the crash of waves

I smell the perfume of tropical flowers

I feel the splash of water on skin

I see the stifling darkness

I hear the shattering of something thrown

I smell the odour of bitterness and anger

I feel the tears as they begin to fall

I see the light behind closed eyelids

I hear the rythym of my heartbeat

I smell the salt on the sea breeze

I feel the sand between my toes

To escape what is real, I take refuge in what is not
